About SLIET:
The Sant Longowal Institute of Technology is also known as SLIET, was made an autonomous university in the year 2007 by the UGC. As an autonomous body, the institute is funded by the government of India and is controlled by the SLIET society.
Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET) is a technical college in north India. The institute is located on 451 acres (1.83 km2) of land provided by the Punjab government in Longowal village in Sangrur district. The institute was conceived by the government of India in 1985 as a tribute to Sant Harchand Singh Longowal, a Sikh leader in the 1970s. The institute was established by the Ministry Of Human Resource and Development in 1989 and was inaugurated on 20 December 1991. It was made a “Deemed to be University” by the UGC in April 2007.
